Leigh loves every aspect of her role at Byron Shire Respite Service as a member of our support staff. Reflecting on her experience, she shares, “If you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life! So, I guess I haven’t really worked at all.“
Having lived in the Byron and Tweed Shires most of her life, Leigh feels a deep connection to the local community. “This connection helps me provide personcentred care, making our clients and their carers feel supported, safe, and valued.“

Wednesdays with Indigenous Elders at Lennox Head are especially meaningful for Leigh”. “Their stories and traditions fill me with respect and gratitude.“
One of Leigh’s favorite moments is singing and dancing with clients. “Seeing the delight in their eyes when songs from their eras play almost brings tears to mine.”
