Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
CHSP is subsidised by the Australian Government’s Department of Health. The Commonwealth does not fund the full cost of the service and instructs service providers, like Byron Respite, to collect a client contribution to deliver the service. This client contribution is collected to ensure the whole cost of the service is covered and Byron Respite is sustainable.
The contribution should not be a deterrent to access CHSP services. Our Care office can assist you with further details and discuss a program that best suits your needs and budget.

| Wednesday Social Support Group Shopping trips | 10.00am- 3:00pm | $22 per day |
| Wednesday Social Support Group Picnic trips (including food) | 10.00am- 3:00pm | $32 per day |
| Transport and accompanying to hospitals/medical appointments out of the Byron Shire | Daytime | $50 per trip |
Getting started
Telephone or email our helpful Care office to check available programs and arrange for a member of our team to visit your home to develop a tailored service to meet your needs. Taking a break
If you need to postpone or cancel our service due to illness, holidays or family visiting, please let us know in advance so we can temporarily suspend your services.
To avoid a cancellation fee, please telephone us by 4pm the day before a scheduled service.

Byron Respite provides innovative affordable person-centred centre-based programs, in-home and community access care and support.
We are a not-for-profit community based organisation providing care and assistance to people living in the Byron, Ballina and Lismore Shires.
Our offices and centre-based program are located inside the Brunswick Valley Community Centre at 42 South Beach Road, Brunswick Heads, opposite the Brunswick Heads Surf Lifesaving club.
