Social Groups at Byron Respite
We believe in the power of connection and community, and our social groups offer a welcoming space for everyone.
Social Groups
for Social Connection
Staying socially active and maintaining meaningful relationships is essential at every stage of life, especially following memory loss or functional decline. Our social groups are designed to bring people of all walks of life together, offering a supportive and engaging environment where participants can enjoy enriching activities, build friendships, and stay connected.
Whether you’re seeking companionship, creative outlets, or simply a fun way to spend your day, our social groups offer a welcoming space for everyone.

Embracing Diversity
At Byron Shire Respite Service, we embrace and celebrate cultural diversity, warmly welcoming participants from the LGBTIQA+ community, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We create spaces where clients can share and celebrate their cultures, and we proudly recognise significant cultural events such as NAIDOC and Reconciliation Weeks.
Our Elders group is a close-knit community of friends who gather for yarns, creative activities, and music. They also enjoy bus outings organised by Byron Respite, and opportunities to explore other areas of the region and attend cultural events.
If you’re an Aboriginal Elder in the area and would like to join us, we’d love to meet you. Reach out to us at 02) 6685 1619 or email caremanager@byronshirerespite.com. Further details are below:
